The Zonta Club of Fort Collins supports many types of programs and projects that support women in our local area through advocacy, service and offering scholarship opportunities. Over the years we are proud to have supported a growing community art and education project called "Living Her Legacy" founded by one of our longstanding club members and Fort Collins residents, Patti Smith. The Zonta Club of Fort Collins was chartered in 1997 yet our work in community advocacy spans over 40 years. Club members work together on advocacy and service projects, and scholarship opportunities to local single Moms and women pursuing higher education through annual and special events. Our service and advocacy projects offer assistance to our community partners by helping to increase awareness about local women who are victims of violence and human trafficking,
Our parent organization, Zonta International, celebrated 100 years of advocacy for women in 2019. As a celebration our club curated a photograph/personal story exhibit at the Global Village Museum titled ‘Inspirational Women – Rising through Adversity’, October 2019-February 2020. On International Women’s Day 2020 we jointly produced a live presentation with the Bas Blue Theater called ‘Engaging Voices’. In 2020 we hosted our first live Facebook event ‘Beware and Be Aware of Domestic Violence’ with a forum of local leaders from our community partners that provide legal assistance, education and shelter for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
We invite you to explore our website and learn more about our local projects, as well as visit Zonta International at www.zonta.org .
