- Birthing Kit Project: This project, done in cooperation with Think Humanity a 501 (c) (3) organization located in Loveland, CO, provides birthing kits to women in Uganda. Zonta Club of Fort Collins Foundation provides the materials and volunteer labor to assemble the birthing kits. Birthing kits are essential in reducing both mother and infant mortality in developing countries. Most women, for reasons of isolation, cultural choice or poor transport, have little or no assistance during childbirth. Many mothers and babies die from preventable infections. By providing a clean birthing kit and training in how to use it, these mothers will have the resources to reduce infection. In October, 2015 we completed our 1000th birth kit with the help of the Fort Collins Chamber Red Carpet members during their nonprofit volunteer day.
